Who We Are
Founded in 1954, the Harris Home for Children is located in Huntsville, Alabama as a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) agency and is licensed by the Alabama Department of Human Resource as a foster care institution. We provide full-time foster care services and support for neglected and dependent adolescent males and females who are in the care of the state.
What We Do
Through our dedicated team approach to personalized care, the Harris Home for Children is able to provide services designed to meet each child’s needs. These needs are met through various programs at Harris Home for Children, including Crisis Residential Program, Basic Residential Program, Transitional Living Program, and Independent Living Program.
Our successes are simply measured through the number of lives we have been able to impact over the years with the quality programs and services we provide. Our goal is to create a “normalized” childhood experience for each of our residents. Whether it is through providing a stable living environment, promoting academic success through support services, participating in engaging growth and development activities, or simply giving a much needed hug and a smile, our legacy of love is found in the lives of the children we have served.
